Obligatory About Me Page
Real, and rare, photo of me in my natural habitat.
Hello fellow writers and wannabe writers!
If you have been fortunate enough to stumble upon this blog, then I suppose you may want to know a thing or two about the man behind the proverbial curtain.
My blog's description pretty much sums up the purpose of why I am blogging, but it doesn't tell you a whole lot about me.
Aside from my issues...
So here is what you need to know...or not...
Origin: Western Pennsylvania, IVO Pittsburgh. I am a proud Appalachian American.
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana. Booze is available everywhere. Literally. But it is flat and humid, which sucks.
Occupation: Physical Scientist with the Naval Oceanographic Office.
My official title is Oceanographer, but I don't really do that...
Wannabe Writer. As you can tell, I'm working on this one.
Veteran of the US Army.
Education:
- M.S. Hydrographic Sciences, University of Southern Mississippi.
- B.S. Geology, Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
- A.D. Applied Intelligence Studies, Cochise College Arizona.
- 35F-10 Intelligence Analyst, US Army Intelligence School, Fort Huachuca Arizona.
Interests/Hobbies:
- Writing
- Reading (fantasy, adventure, action, thrillers, science fiction, non-fiction)
- Arithmetic...NOT. Math sucks.
- History. Specifically, exploration history, the Roman Empire, lost cities and civilizations, and ancient warfare.
- Geology and Paleontology. Yeah, I like dinosaurs.
- Video Games. I am a nerd, what can I say?
- Hiking and Kayaking. Louisiana is a swamp hole, so kayaking has replaced hiking. God, I miss mountains and rocks...
- Firearms, their history and hunting applications. Don't have a coronary.
- Jeep Wranglers. This is what I drive and always want to drive. I would take a Rubicon over almost any other vehicle. Thank you, Jurassic Park.
- Leatherwork
- Survival
Favorite Books & Movies (if you're interested...doubt it...)
- Indiana Jones TRILOGY
- Star Wars
- Lord of the Rings (books and movies)
- Godzilla
- Jurassic Park (books and movies)
- The Mummy circa 1999
- The Lost World by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
- Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne
- Congo by Michael Crichton
- The Expanse series by James SA Corey (also the T.V. show)
- A Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin. Hipster here, I read the books well before the show.
